Russia hit Sumy residential area with glide bombs injuring 11, including three children
Russian forces struck a residential area on the outskirts of Sumy with two glide bombs today afrenoon. Eleven people were reportdely injured including three children, local authorities said.
The initial casualty count was eight, including two girls, ages 8 and 17. Six of the injured, including the two children and four adults, were hospitalized. Authorities later said a 14-year-old boy had also sought medical treatment, bringing the total number of injured to 11.
A separate Russian strike on a shopping and entertainment center injured a woman, who received medical treatment at the scene, the head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration said.
Russian jet-powered drones reach western Ukraine as explosions reported in Lutsk
Russian forces have now been using jet-powered drones, including upgraded Geran-4 and Geran-5 models based on Iranian Shahed drones, in attacks that now able to reach western Ukraine. These drones fly at speeds of around 400 km/h — nearly twice as fast as earlier propeller-driven versions — making them harder for Ukrainian air defenses to intercept.
Monitoring reports and Ukrainian Air Force data confirm that jet-powered drones have flown over regions such as Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Rivne, and Volyn, covering distances of 850–960 km from launch points in occupied Crimea or Russian territory. Lutsk, the main city in Volyn Oblast, has been among the targets. Explosions have been reported in and around the city during several recent drone waves, with strikes hitting industrial facilities, warehouses, and other infrastructure in past attacks.
Attack on shopping centre in Pavlohrad: four killed, over 60 injured
A Russian strike on a shopping center in central Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, killed four people and injured more than 60 others on Sept. 10, local authorities said. Three children — boys ages 13, 14 and 15 — are among the injured, all of whom are receiving medical treatment.
The severe attack occurred in the middle of the day when the area was crowded, according to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Serhii Lysak.
The strike also set cars, retail units and a store on fire. Two State Emergency Service employees were injured while responding to the attack and were hospitalized.
Russian forces have carried out more than 18,000 strikes on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast since the beginning of the year, most of them involving drones.
Poland prepares for possible Russian strikes on its border crossings with Ukraine
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that Poland is preparing for the possibility of Russian attacks on its border crossing points with Ukraine. He noted that these crossings could become targets as Russia continues to strike trade routes in an effort to weaken Ukraine economically.
Speaking at a press conference in Bratislava on September 10, Tusk said that overnight cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian services had avoided a direct threat to one of the border crossings. He pointed to recent Russian drone attacks on border points, including a deadly strike on a Ukraine-Moldova crossing in the Odesa region, as evidence that Moscow is deliberately targeting such infrastructure.
Tusk emphasized that similar provocations against Polish-Ukrainian border crossings should be expected. He stressed the need for NATO’s eastern flank countries to remain prepared for further Russian actions in the coming months, citing intelligence assessments that align with his earlier warnings about potential escalation.
