A voice of Ukraine to the West
Ukraine's partners are currently focused on Iran, trilateral meeting postponed - Zelensky
Volodymyr Zelensky said that the planned trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States has been postponed due to the escalating war in the Middle East. Writing on X, Zelenskyyadded that the postponement was proposed by the American side as partners are currently focused on the situation around Iran.
The president said he had met with Ukraine’s negotiating team and stressed that Kyiv remains in constant contact with Washington. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is ready to hold the talks at any time in a format that could realistically help end the war.
Zelensky also said Ukrainian intelligence had briefed him on Russia’s intentions, warning that Moscow is trying to exploit the crisis in the Middle East and the Gulf region. He said Russia is attempting to turn Iran’s strikes against its neighbours and U.S. bases into what he described as a “second front” in its broader confrontation with Ukraine and the West.
Dutch intelligence warns that Russian hackers are targeting messengers Signal and WhatsApp
Dutch intelligence services have warned of a large-scale global cyber campaign by Russian state hackers targeting the accounts of senior officials and military personnel on messaging platforms.
According to theThe Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service, the attackers are trying to gain access to accounts on Signal and WhatsApp. Dutch civil servants are among those targeted, but the campaign could also affect journalists and other individuals considered of interest to the Russian government.
The intelligence agencies said the operation relies mainly on social engineering rather than sophisticated malware. Attackers often impersonate support chatbots and persuade victims to share verification codes or PINs, allowing them to take control of accounts. Another technique involves abusing the “linked devices” feature in the apps, which can give hackers access to incoming messages and group chats once an account is compromised. Dutch officials believe the campaign may already have been used to obtain confidential information.
Orbán's party MP submits a bill to keep seized Oschadbank cash and valuables under arrest
Mate Kocsis, an MP from Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party, has submitted a bill proposing that cash and valuables seized from Ukraine’s state-owned Oschadbank remain under arrest until Hungary’s criminal investigation into the case is completed.
According to the bill published on the website of the Hungarian Parliament the proposal concerns what Kocsis described as an “unusual amount” of cash and gold transported through Hungary. He suggested that the assets seized last week should be treated as confiscated until the procedure launched by the National Tax and Customs Administration concludes, arguing that the purpose of the shipment, the method of transport and the identities of those carrying it could pose a national security risk.
The proposal will be debated under a fast-track procedure. During a meeting of the parliament’s National Security Committee on March 9, opposition lawmakers including Zsolt Molnar of the Hungarian Socialist Party and committee chair Zoltan Sas of Jobbik criticised the speed of the process and raised concerns about possible retroactive legal effects. The committee nevertheless supported the proposal by four votes, with two abstentions, recommending that the National Assembly consider the bill.
Ukraine deploys interceptor drones and experts to protect the US bases in Jordan
According to president Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine has deployed interceptor drones and a team of specialists to help protect U.S. military bases in Jordan. In the interview with The New York Times published on March 9. Zelensky said the United States requested assistance on March 5 as tensions in the Middle East escalated following strikes on Iran, and Ukraine sent experts the next day.
“We reacted immediately,” Zelensky said. “I said, yes, of course, we will send our experts.”
The deployment comes as Iran retaliates against attacks by the United States and Israel, launching drones and missiles at U.S. bases, diplomatic facilities, and civilian targets in the region.
Ukraine has gained extensive experience countering Iranian-made Shahed attack drones since Russia began using them widely against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure in 2022. Zelensky said Kyiv has received 11 requests from countries neighboring Iran, as well as from several European states and the United States, seeking cooperation on interceptor drones, electronic warfare systems, and training. He added that Ukraine has also discussed security cooperation with several Middle Eastern countries, some of which maintain ties with Moscow and could potentially help facilitate a ceasefire in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
