Last night, on June 22-23, 2025, Kyiv experienced a devastating Russian missile and drone attack, marking one of the most intense assaults on the Ukrainian capital in recent months. The combined missile and drone attack began around 2:28 AM, targeting civilian areas including residential buildings and hospitals.

Ukrainian officials reported a rising death toll, reaching at least seven people in the Shevchenkivskyi district, with significant damage to a five-story building and ongoing rescue efforts involving 312 rescuers; dozens were also injured, and fires broke out across multiple districts. Thirty-one civilians were injured due to the attack.

Situation in the Middle East will impact the war in Ukraine - Polish Foreign Minister

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski warned that escalating tensions in the Middle East will directly affect the war in Ukraine, particularly by driving up global oil prices — a development that boosts Russia’s revenues and fuels its war effort. Speaking at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday, Sikorski thanked European diplomats for their efforts to contain the crisis in the Middle East, noting that the EU had done everything within its power to prevent further escalation. He emphasized that as the region’s turmoil grows, so too does its impact on Ukraine, with Moscow intensifying its airstrikes and bombings, turning yet another day into tragedy for Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.

Sikorski also highlighted that the Foreign Affairs Council’s regular session would soon begin with the participation of Ukraine’s foreign minister. He urged EU nations to stay focused on Ukraine, expressing hope that the bloc would move forward with its 18th sanctions package against Russia this week. Meanwhile, upon arriving at the meeting, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on the international community to apply all possible diplomatic pressure to compel Moscow to engage in meaningful negotiations.

"Moscow stays silent": Zelensky condemned Russia’s hypocrisy over Iran strikes while conducting mass attacks on Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 23 called out the Kremlin’s clear hypocrisy, condemning Moscow for decrying U.S. strikes on Iran as a “gross violation of international law” — just hours before Russia itself unleashed another deadly mass missile and drone assault on Ukraine. “After the strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, there was an uproar from Moscow,” Zelensky said. “The Russian leadership demonstratively condemned the ‘missile and bomb’ actions. Today, Moscow is silent — after its own army launched a cynical attack using Russian-Iranian Shaheds and missiles on civilian infrastructure in Kyiv and other cities.”

Trump condemns Russian strikes on Ukraine, calling upon restraint from both sides

U.S. President Donald Trump is "disappointed" by Russia’s recent strikes on civilian targets and major cities across Ukraine, according to U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker. Speaking to reporters ahead of the NATO summit in The Hague, Whitaker said the president joins the international community in condemning Moscow’s brutal attacks. He expressed deep sympathies to the families of victims, including an American citizen who was killed in a recent Russian strike.

While firmly criticizing the Kremlin’s actions, Whitaker also urged both sides to exercise restraint, though he did not clarify what steps that would involve. Asked whether Trump still believes Russia is genuinely interested in peace, given these latest assaults, Whitaker stopped short of offering a direct answer, instead emphasizing the U.S. president’s disappointment over Russia’s conduct.
