Ukraine hits oil refinery launches in the largest drone attack on Moscow since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion

Ukraine carried out its largest drone attack on Moscow since the start of the full-scale war overnight on 18 June, with Russian authorities claiming that 194 drones were intercepted on approach to the capital and 555 drones were shot down across Russia.

Ukrainian forces struck the Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district for the second time in a week. Ukraine's General Staff reported at least five fires at the facility, with preliminary information indicating damage to oil-processing and storage infrastructure.

A fuel depot in Russia's Rostov Oblast used to support military logistics was also hit during the operation.

Russian authorities said 17 people, including two children, were injured in the Moscow region. The attack also disrupted air travel, forcing the cancellation and delay of hundreds of flights.

President Volodymyr Zelensky described the strikes as a response to ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine and said Kyiv would continue targeting facilities that support Russia's war effort if Moscow refuses to end the war. He also called for stronger sanctions against Russia's energy sector, banking system and defense industry.

Key railway bridge in occupied Crimea ablazed after reported Ukrainian strike

A railway bridge in Russian-occupied Crimea on the Kerch–Dzhankoi line was reportedly struck in a drone attack early on 18 June, causing a fire and potentially disrupting a key Russian military supply route.

The bridge, which crosses the North Crimean Canal near Rozdolne, is used by Russian forces to transport military equipment, fuel and supplies to troops on the southern front. Local residents reported hearing around 20 explosions during the attack.

Monitoring channel Crimean Wind said the strike could significantly affect freight and passenger rail traffic on the route. A nearby road bridge was also reportedly targeted, although the extent of any damage remains unclear.

Russian-installed authorities have not commented on the incident, and Ukrainian officials have not officially confirmed the strike.

The attack comes as Ukraine continues targeting transport infrastructure in occupied Crimea and southern Ukraine in an effort to disrupt Russian logistics and supply lines supporting frontline operations.

Almost 70% of Ukrainians expect Zelensky to be replaced after the war - poll

A growing majority of Ukrainians expect President Volodymyr Zelensky to leave office after the war, according to a new poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

The survey found that 67% of respondents believe Zelensky should be replaced once the war ends, up sharply from 23% in 2023. Overall, 88% of Ukrainians support some form of renewal of the country's central authorities, including the president, parliament or government.

At the same time, most Ukrainians still oppose holding elections during wartime. The poll indicates that support for Zelensky remains largely tied to his role in leading the country's defense efforts rather than unconditional political backing.

The survey also found that 83% support renewing parliament and 74% favor replacing the government after the war. KIIS Director Anton Hrushetskyi said the results reflect a broader public demand for political renewal rather than opposition to Zelensky personally.

A separate KIIS poll found that 61% of Ukrainians still trust Zelensky, while another survey in May showed that only 28% want him to remain president after the war, with 16% supporting a continued role in politics in another capacity.

Russian ballistic strike on Dnipro and attacks on the Nikopol district left 2 dead and 15 injured

Russian attacks on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on 18 June killed two people and injured at least 15 others in strikes on Dnipro and the Nikopol district.

In Dnipro, Russian forces reportedly used ballistic missiles to strike a business facility, killing one worker and injuring 11 people. Most of the wounded were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, lacerations and contusions. Local authorities said no residential buildings were damaged.

Russian FPV drone attacks on the Nikopol district also killed one man and injured four others. Several homes and vehicles were damaged in the strikes.

Ukrainian prosecutors have launched an investigation into the attacks as possible war crimes and are documenting the damage and casualties.
