Russian drones hit Odesa residential area; attacks across the country killed 3, injured over 60

At least three people were killed and 61 were injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past day, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Russia launched 265 Shahed-type attack drones overnight, Ukraine's Air Force reported. Air defenses shot down 228 drones, while 27 reached targets at 18 locations. Debris from intercepted drones was recorded at 12 additional sites.
In Odesa, a Russian drone struck a residential high-rise, damaging apartments on several floors and injuring seven people. The attack was part of a broader overnight drone assault that also targeted industrial infrastructure.
Russian strikes disrupted power supplies in several regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv and Chernihiv oblasts.
In Donetsk Oblast, one person was killed in Druzhkivka and eight others were injured across the region. In Kherson Oblast, six people were injured in attacks on dozens of settlements, while a separate strike on the village of Shyroka Balka killed one man.
In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, one woman was killed, and 13 people were injured, most of them in the heavily targeted Nikopol district. Russian attacks also injured 10 people in Sumy Oblast, eight in Kharkiv Oblast, eight in Chernihiv Oblast, including three children, and one elderly woman in Zaporizhzhia.
Overall, Russian attacks continued across multiple regions of Ukraine, causing civilian casualties, damage to residential areas, and disruptions to critical infrastructure.
Russia captured only 14 sq km of Ukrainian territory in May
Russian forces captured just 14 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory in May, the lowest monthly territorial gain recorded in the past three years, according to the Ukrainian military analysis group DeepState.
The analysts said May was Russia's weakest month for territorial advances since October 2023, despite a sharp increase in combat activity. Russian forces reportedly launched more than 7,000 assaults during the month, a 37.5% increase compared with April.
According to DeepState, the surge in attacks failed to produce significant gains. Analysts attributed this to improved Ukrainian defenses and the growing effectiveness of drones, which have made it increasingly difficult for Russian troops to advance, reinforce positions, or hold newly seized ground.
The group also noted that May may have been the first month since Ukraine's 2023 counteroffensive in which Russia's net territorial gain was effectively negative once delayed reporting of Ukrainian advances is taken into account.
Despite the overall slowdown in Russian advances, DeepState warned that the situation around Kostiantynivka remains difficult and that the outlook for the city is still unfavorable.
Eight people, including three children, were injured in a Russian attack on Chernihiv Oblast

Eight people, including three children, were injured in a Russian drone attack on Chernihiv Oblast, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service.
The attack sparked a fire at a community arts centre in the village of Snovske in Koriukivka district. In the settlement of Ripky, a residential house was damaged.
Emergency responders said they quickly extinguished fires at industrial facilities, infrastructure sites, residential areas and several vehicles damaged during the attack.
Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage caused by the strike.
Russian brigade that committed war crimes in Bucha hit by Ukrainian drone strike
Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck a training camp of Russia’s 64th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade in occupied Zaporizhzhia Oblast overnight on May 30. This is the same brigade notorious for committing war crimes in Bucha during the early weeks of the full-scale invasion in 2022. The strike was part of a broader Ukrainian drone operation that also targeted Russian military camps in occupied Luhansk Oblast. Ukraine confirmed 21 hits on the two sites, with at least 31 casualties (9 killed, 9 wounded, and 13 missing) from the 64th Brigade alone.
The successful “middle strike,” carried out at a depth of up to 100 kilometers behind the front line, demonstrates Ukraine’s growing capability to hit Russian rear positions effectively. The 64th Brigade’s training camp in occupied Zaporizhzhia was used as a key logistical and preparation site. Ukrainian forces continue to increase such deep strikes on Russian units responsible for atrocities, aiming to disrupt their operations and deliver justice for war crimes committed against Ukrainian civilians.
