A voice of Ukraine to the West
Russian attacks on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast injured at least 19, including 5 children

Russian drone and missile attacks on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast injured at least 19 people, including five children, local authorities reported today, as Russia continued its strikes on civilian areas and infrastructure.
The cities of Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih were hit in the afternoon, according to Ukraine’s Air Force. In Kryvyi Rih, a Russian missile struck a two-story residential building, injuring at least 11 people, among them four children aged between one and a half and 10 years, Oblast Governor said. Emergency responders are continuing to inspect the site and assist residents.
In Dnipro, a 16-story apartment building was damaged, sparking fires in two apartments. According to Mayor seven people were injured, including a 14-year-old girl, and 16 residents were rescued from the building. More than 50 rescuers and 17 pieces of equipment were deployed to deal with the aftermath, the State Emergency Service reported. The attack came amid Russia’s ongoing campaign against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, which has left thousands without electricity and heating.
Zelensky held a meeting with Trump in Davos
Despite the President`s initial plan not to visit the annual economic forum in Davos due to the critical situation in Kyiv with electricity and heating caused by constant Russian strikes, Zelensky changed his mind and headed to Switzerland to meet Donald Trump.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that communication between Kyiv and the team of U.S. President Donald Trump is taking place in an intensive and ongoing format, with contacts occurring almost daily.
According to Zelensky, the work of both teams was discussed in detail, noting that meetings and exchanges are held nearly every day and that documents are already being prepared. He emphasized that the dialogue is practical and focused on concrete outcomes.
One of the key topics was the protection of Ukraine’s airspace from Russian attacks. Zelensky recalled that previous talks with Trump had already produced tangible results by strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and expressed hope that the latest round of discussions would lead to further reinforcement.
The president also thanked the United States for a previous package of air defense missiles, saying they are already saving Ukrainian lives, and confirmed that he had requested additional supplies. “I asked for an additional package of missiles. Protecting lives, our resilience, and our joint diplomatic work — this is what matters most,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky gave a speech at Davos, criticized Europe, and revealed talks with the US and Russia in the UAE tomorroww
President Volodymyr Zelensky used his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos today to issue a sharp warning to Europe, accusing its leaders of repeatedly acknowledging global threats while failing to take decisive action.
“Just last year, here in Davos, I ended my speech by saying Europe needs to know how to defend itself,” Zelensky said.
“A year has passed, and nothing has changed. I am forced to say the same words again.” He argued that without real deterrence, Europe risks permanently lagging behind emerging dangers.
“Our teams are working almost every day,” Zelensky said. “The documents to end this war are nearly ready. Ukraine is acting with honesty and determination. Russia must also be forced to end this aggression.”
The Davos talks coincided with preparations for a meeting later the same day between U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, as well as a planned trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia set to begin on Jan. 23 in the United Arab Emirates.
Broadening his remarks beyond Ukraine, Zelensky delivered a sweeping critique of what he described as Europe’s political inertia. He warned that if Europe is not perceived as a global force capable of deterring aggression, it will remain vulnerable to repeated crises. Citing Iran as an example, he said cautious and delayed responses send dangerous signals to authoritarian regimes.
“If Europe is not seen as a global force, if its actions do not scare bad actors, then Europe will always be catching up with new dangers and attacks,” Zelensky said. He also warned that Europe’s credibility is eroding as Russia continues producing missiles used to strike Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. “Last year, everyone said long-range weapons for Ukraine were within reach. Now no one is even talking about it,” he added. “Today, they target Ukraine. Tomorrow, it could be any NATO country.”
President Zelensky criticised Europe for relying on NATO protection led by the United States, arguing that the alliance has never had to use its full military power in practice.
“Today, Europe relies only on the belief that if danger comes, NATO will act. But no one has really seen the alliance in action. If Putin decides to take Lithuania or strike Poland, who will respond?” Zelensky asked.
He also pointed to Europe’s recent military mission to Greenland, saying that deploying just 40 soldiers to guard a strategically important territory sends a troubling signal to both allies and adversaries. “Europe needs to know how to defend itself. And if you send 14 or 40 soldiers to Greenland, what is that for? What message does it send — to Putin, to China? And even more importantly, what message does it send to Denmark?” he said.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine could assist Europe in countering Russian military threats in the Arctic region, including helping to destroy Russian warships near Greenland.
Volunteers were killed delivering bread to a village in Kharkiv Oblast when a drone hit their car

Two local volunteers delivering bread to residents of the village of Kozacha Lopan in Kharkiv Oblast were killed by a Russian drone strike earlier today, local authorities reported.
