A voice of Ukraine to the West

The death toll of the Russian mass attack on Kyiv rose to 25, including children

Russia conducted a large-scale aerial strike on Ukrainian cities overnight on Aug. 28, attacking Kyiv with missiles and targeting regions far from the front lines. The death toll of this attack has risen to 25.
Russia launched 598 drones overnight, including Shahed attack drones and decoys, as well as 31 missiles, among them two Kh-47 Kinzhal ballistic missiles, nine Iskander-M or North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles, and 20 Kh-101 cruise missiles, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 563 drones and 26 missiles, according to the statement.
Ukraine is calling an emergency UN Security Council meeting over the
Russian strike on Kyiv
The U.N. Security Council is set to meet on Aug. 29 at Ukraine’s request to address a deadly Russian attack on Kyiv, Ukrinform reported. The session, scheduled for 3 p.m. local time, will include a Ukrainian briefing on the scale of destruction and calls for an immediate ceasefire and civilian protection.
Russia launched around 630 drones and missiles against Ukraine overnight on Aug. 28, killing at least 23 people in Kyiv — including four children — and injuring more than 60. The barrage also damaged the EU mission building in the capital.
European leaders condemned the strike as evidence of Moscow’s disregard for peace efforts, while the White House compared the attack on civilians to Ukraine’s targeting of Russian energy infrastructure, which fuels the Kremlin’s war machine.
The Security Council meeting coincides with a visit to New York by senior Ukrainian officials for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff. Presidential Office Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov are expected to discuss future security guarantees and preparations for a possible bilateral meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bloomberg reported.
