Russia launches large-scale attack on Kramatorsk community
Russian forces killed one person and injured 22 others in an aerial attack on Kramatorsk in Donetsk Oblast on August 13, damaging dozens of residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.
According to the Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office, Russian forces carried out eight strikes on Kramatorsk and the nearby village of Bilenke between 8:30 and 8:56 p.m., using eight FAB-250 glide bombs equipped with UMPK guidance kits. The strikes hit residential areas, including apartment buildings.
The attack damaged 24 apartment buildings, 57 private houses, 25 vehicles, a café, a shop, warehouses and garages. The 22 injured victims suffered blast and traumatic brain injuries, shrapnel wounds, cuts and bruises, according to prosecutors.
Poland could send MiG-29 jets to Ukraine within weeks in exchange for drones
Ukraine and Poland are nearing an agreement under which Warsaw would transfer older MiG-29 fighter jets to Kyiv in exchange for drones and Ukrainian expertise on their production, Polish media reported.
According to Wirtualna Polska, negotiations have made significant progress after months of deadlock, and the aircraft could be delivered within the next few weeks. The MiG-29s are nearing the end of their service lives and are being withdrawn from Poland's Air Force.
Poland is seeking Ukrainian expertise on drone communications, control systems and combat operations, as well as large numbers of drones. Ukrainian defense company Fire Point has reportedly offered to provide Poland with 1,500 long-range drones, plus another 1,500 if war breaks out. Polish officials remain cautious about whether the proposed deliveries could be guaranteed during a crisis.
Lavrov announced that Russia has refused the truce and threatened Ukraine with harsher strikes
Russia has rejected the possibility of a ceasefire along the entire front line, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov saying Moscow will not agree to a temporary halt in hostilities.
According to RBC-Ukraine, citing Russian state media, Lavrov said Russia would only accept an end to fighting as part of what he described as a “long-term, reliable and sustainable settlement.” He also threatened to intensify Russian strikes against infrastructure supporting Ukraine’s war effort.
Meanwhile, Sky News reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s team had allegedly proposed a mutual halt to strikes against civilian targets in the Black Sea. Kyiv has not officially confirmed the reported proposal. The initiative reportedly came as the U.S. seeks to persuade Ukraine to reduce strikes on Russian ports.
